Stencil History

 

First stenciling work found at Palaeolithic period around 30.000 BC - 9.000 BC. At that period Some of the stencil work examples made from leaves. For example Fiji people traditionally used some bamboo and also banana leaves to create their own stencils. After that they cut out some image holes in that leaves or create some pattern and then forced colorfull vegetable dyes through image hole on the leaf to their cloth or also known as "Tapa".The Eskimos people that live at Baffin Island from along time are said that they ancient people used dried sealskin for stenciling but unfortunately some of stencil work at that period are nothing remains because that stencil were made from some perishable materials.

 

At the another ancient world stencils work were used by the worker in the some decoration of Egyptian building and tombs. The Egyptian artist made a stencil outline of the shape ,figure, hieroglyph,typhography . after that some of Egyptian sculptor would carving the outline of stencil image in relief. and then paint that with some color The Egyptians usually use very bright as primary colours for example is blue, red and yellow colour.
